About Us

In 1918, ten women formed a group to address the many social needs
of the diocese. They raised funds and found housing for orphaned and
abandoned children. Many of these women were considered pioneers
of Seattle. Their lives and those of their families were woven into the
history of our city through businesses and landmarks, such as The Bon
Marché, Washington State Ferry System, Seattle Symphony, Seattle
Times and Ravenna Park. Their hard work, leadership and spirit
helped shape our community into what it is now. “Circles” of
compassionate women formed to continue the work of helping those in
need. Many of these Circles were named after our founding members.

Today, ACC provides caring, funding and advocacy for countless
children and families in Western Washington. With 20 Circles and
more than 300 members, we volunteer, raise funds and sponsor local
events to contribute to the many children’s programs of Catholic
Community Services.

Since 2002, our ACC Endowment Fund has grown to more than
$880,000. Help us reach our goal of $1 million this evening by taking
part in our Raise the Paddle appeal. Your generous financial support
will allow us to continue to serve our community for years to come.
